Miwok 100K race report

I posted Miwok race report over at Bryon Powell's unrivaled ultrarunning and trail site, irunfar.com . Thanks for posting it Bryon. I didnt get to write proper final edit of the report, so the flow isn't that good in my opinion. I also didnt say anything about the women's race, which was just as exciting as the men's. Pam Smith pulled ahead of Meghan Arboghast and Krissy Moehl to take the win.. here is Pam's race report..

What may best sum it all up is Jim Vernon's excellent work...

Geoff Roes writes here about some race this summer. I think along the lines of Geoff in terms of pacing and conserving energy, as well as thinking one race at a time. Next up for me is an unknown point-to-point race snowshoe race in the Sierras. Got a 2004 2nd, a 2009 DNF so far.. .may I hope that third time's a charm.

  1. Dave:

The way you're running (Bandera, American River, Miwok) all bets have to be off at Western States. Good luck and may this Western be your best yet.

  3. Hey Dave, great Miwok report. If you are planning on getting some time in training in the canyons or elsewhere on the WS trail and want a training partner, let me know (jakemr33@hotmail.com). I live just down the hill from Auburn. Good luck with the rest of your season.

  5. What shoes are you going to wear in the snow? No way Bondi's are going to work. I am planning to stash mine at an aid station below snow line. I thought Robinson, but I will be surprised if they can even have that aid station there! Now if I can get the tread to last. Man, they wear to quickly? Rubber is way to soft. They need to a different compound.

  6. Way to work out there! You continue to just make it look easy. Got a little excited seeing some of those trails after running them at the NF50. Might have to return. Keep representing Boulder out there on the coast!

  7. Jacob, I am not sure I will be able to get up to the WS course to train this spring. If I do I will try to drop you a line.
Kate, how are the grandkids? Wyatt and Brandon, thanks for the good wishes! Chris, I see you are in healthcare too.. looking forward to working the trenches with oyu. Grae.. I am not sure about footwear options yet for WS; I will suss it out in a few weeks. I havent had any issues with Bondi B durability; they've lasted 5-600 miles no problem for me; where do they wear out on you? D

  8. Right under the ball of the foot. Ran a road marathon and that made it worse, other then that, all my running is on dirt!

  9. Good luck in the snowshoe race man! I've got a good feeling for your success at WS... With all the stress, expectations, hype, I think you have a good advantage with all your experience.
    Kill it man.
